Elliott’s Wholesale Nursery

Welcome to Elliott’s Nursery

Forty kilometres north of Christchurch, Elliott’s Wholesale Nursery has been operating since 1980. Spread over twenty-five acres, the site at Amberley hosts tunnel and shade houses, potting sheds, media preparation spaces, open ground growing sites, and production rows all carefully situated around a central office and dispatch hub.

Hands-on owners Caroline and Jeff Elliott work tirelessly to keep the business efficient and are early to adopt the latest technology, machinery, and scientific knowledge available to the industry. Jeff is a natural innovator, birthing ideas that marry creativity and analytical thought to enhance processes on the nursery. Caroline is people focused and dedicated to building and nurturing external customer relationships. She encourages and motivates her team on the nursery to pursue horticultural education opportunities through the business.

Elliott’s Wholesale Nursery employs 30 people at any given time. These people are a mix of experienced nursery folk and people new to the industry with a keen desire to learn more about growing and selling plants. It is a collaborative workplace where new ideas are welcomed, and teams work hard to keep the daily business running smoothly.

In its early days the nursery was set up to supply ornamental plants to the retail nursery sector. Through the years Jeff has experimented with different projects, Olives and Feijoas were a large focus for a period and remain popular here at Elliott’s. Rhododendrons have always been a passion of Jeff’s and he continues to propagate and grow thousands every year. The core business for the nursery now is to supply other nurseries, garden centres and the landscaping sector with quality plants.
